Take Five – Three Bets for Aston Villa vs. Leicester City at 5/1 or Better

Home » News » Take Five – Three Bets for Aston Villa vs. Leicester City at 5/1 or Better

Sunday afternoon’s Midlands derby between Aston Villa and Leicester City sees the hosts going for a Premier League double over their Midlands rivals after winning 1-0 earlier in the season at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City have been in terrific form in the first five months of the English Premier League season, but so have Villa, led by the mercurial Jack Grealish. Something’s got to give, but what will it be, and more importantly, can we make a profit from it?

We’ve got three bets which come in at 5/1 or better for Sunday’s game at Villa Park, with the game kicking off at 2.00pm GMT.

If you’re not a William Hill customer already, then you can sign up here to take advantage of these prices and bet £10 to get £30, an offer that is exclusive to the popular sportsbetting site.

Let’s ‘Take 5’ and find the value in what should be an entertaining game.

Over 2 Goals, 3 Cards and 10 Corners in the Game (11/2)

Betting on goals, cards and corners is often advised in open games. You’re looking for teams who take a lot of shots and aren’t afraid of going in for tackles, as well as being above average for corners.

All of those criteria apply to Aston Villa and Leicester City, whose clash at Villa Park marks a line in the sand for both teams’ seasons. A home win and Villa can harbour genuine hopes of a European place for the first time in a very long while.

If the away side grab three points, however, then Brendan Rodgers side will firmly believe that they can qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Both Villa and Leicester are above average for the stats that matter and adding that up, should never be as big as 11/2 to pay off this bet.

Ollie Watkins to have 2 Shots on Target & Wilfred Ndidi to make 4 tackles (16/1)

Leicester City have returned from European competition in midweek, having played in Prague on Thursday night. With Villa having had a clear week to prepare for this game, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Dean Smith’s side going at it from the off.

Ollie Watkins has taken to the Premier League really well and the former Brentford striker is sure to present a massive danger against Leicester on Sunday. Watkins averages around three shots per game and in a game where he is going to be the furthest forward player through the middle against a side whose pace is often on the wings, Watkins should get two on target.

Wilfred Ndidi is back as The Foxes’ defensive lynchpin and he will need to be at his best to stop players such as Ross Barkley, John McGinn and the aforementioned talisman for Villa, Jack Grealish. Ndidi makes an average of 5.15 tackles per game, so backing him to achieve just four in a Midlands derby makes a losense.

The two players statistics are available on William Hill as a requested bet at a massively overpriced 16/1 and would be our betting pick for the weekend.

John McGinn & Wilfred Ndidi to be booked and 1 corner per team each half (55/1)

Both defensive midfielders have already accumulated seven yellow cards between them this season in just 33 games. Scottish playmaker John McGinn has been booked five times in 21 appearances, while Wilfred Ndidi has been booked twice in just 12 games.

Backing both these players to get bookings is a great bet, but we’d combine that with each team getting a corner in both halves. Aston Villa have averaged 6.09 corners per game, while Leicester average 5.04 corners per game so far this season.

While this outside bet requires a little fortune, the analytics tell us that it really could happen. An early booking and it’ll be a fun one to chase home.

You can make all these bets before kick-off at Villa Park, which is at 2.00pm GMT on Sunday by betting £10 and getting £30 at the William Hill website with this exclusive offer.

May all your bets be live until the final whistle!
