Home » News » Take 5 – Three Bets for Tottenham Hotspur v. Chelsea at 5/1 or Better

Tonight’s London derby between Spurs and Chelsea pits Jose Mourinho against his former side, but where is the betting value?

We’ve got three bets which come in at 5/1 or better for tonight’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the game kicking off at 8.00pm GMT.

If you’re not a paddypower customer already, then you can sign up here to take advantage of these prices, which are exclusive to the popular sportsbetting site. Let’s ‘Take 5’ and find the value in what should be an entertaining game.

5/1 Correct Score 1-1

There’s no way either manager sets up with a cavalier attitude tonight, with Jose facing his old side having endured a rotten record against The Blues of late. Earlier this season, the two sides played out a 0-0- stalemate, while last season’s meeting in North London saw Chelsea grab two late goals to win.

At the time, that was seen as a major achievement for Frank Lampard’s side, but the former star player under Mourinho at Chelsea was replaced just weeks ago by Thomas Tuchel. The former Paris St. Germain manager has overseen two Premier League games to date, a 0-0 draw at home to Wolves and a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Stamford Bridge, which featured goals from defenders César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

Tuchel’s first away game is a real test, but without Harry Kane, Spurs are likely to want to stifle the goalmouth action rather than encourage it. Chelsea’s strikers haven’t been firing on all cylinders yet, either and with both sides averaging just five goals in the four Premier League games they played in January, the 1-1 draw looks great value to kick off February.

16/1 Bet Builder

  • Christian Pulisic to have one shot on target
  • Mateo Kovačić to be booked
  • Tottenham +1 goal handicap

The Bet Builder option on paddypower allows you to merge a number of bets to make a mixed accumulator of action. The incremental odds are terrific, but it’s worth keeping your bet builder (previously called Same Game Multi) within the realms of possibility.

To that end, Christian Pulisic is expected to excel under new coach Thomas Tuchel, not least because the American has already worked under the German’s guidance at Borussia Dortmund. As he told the official Chelsea website this week, ‘We had some success at Dortmund together, and it’s been good to see him again and work with him once more.’

Pulisic is bound to want to impress his new boss in the hope that he’s as good as his old boss in the Bundesliga, so adding him into the mix with the combative Mateo Kovačić to go into the book, with the Croatian having already been shown the yellow card five times in 25 appearances for The Blues so far this season.

With the suspension amnesty having passed, there’s nothing stopping Kovačić going into plenty of tackles in what is bound to be a feisty affair and we’ve added Tottenham into the Bet Builder with a handicap as we can’t see Mourinho’s side accepting defeat again, no matter what they have to do to prevent it.

55/1 – Son Heung-Min to score first and Jorginho to be booked first

If Tottenham are to grab the lead in the game, it’s highly likely that their opener will come via the mercurial talents of South Korean striker Son Heung-Min. With Harry Kane absent, Spurs will rely on Son’s pace and finishing, which have so far contributed to 23 goal involvements in 28 games in all competitions in 2020/21.

Thomas Tuchel has relied on his established names in the opening games of his Stamford Bridge reign and if he does so again, Jorginho is more than capable of an early caution.

Booked three times so far this season in 20 games, the Brazilian is yet to receive one in the Premier League, a statistic which is due to be eradicated soon. Having awarded 32 yellow cards in just 12 games so far, tonight’s referee Andre Marriner is not scared to hand out an early warning.

You can make all these bets before kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is at 8.00 GMT tonight by heading to the Paddy Power website right here.

May all your bets be live until the final whistle!
