SWEDEN VS SLOVAKIA PREVIEW AND BETTING TIPS

Home » News » SWEDEN VS SLOVAKIA PREVIEW AND BETTING TIPS

Sweden managed a draw against Spain to get their Euro 2020 campaign off to a good start, and Slovakia pulled off an impressive 2-1 win against Poland. Both sides face off now as they target a spot in the round of 16.

European Championship 2020
Date: 18/06/2021
Kickoff: 14:00
Venue: Gazprom Arena

Sweden will have been very pleased to have held Sapin to a draw in their opening game, especially after recording the lowest possession total in European Championship history last time out (14.9%).

The Swedes are still unbeaten in 2021 and have only conceded one goal this year. A win here would most likely see Sweden qualify as one of the four best-ranked third-placed sides at the very least and, they will be buoyed knowing that they have never lost to Slovakia in their history(W2 D3).

Not many people expected Slovakia to take anything away from Poland but some clinical finishing and a red against their opposition helped them on their way to a shock victory in their Group E opener.

That result gives them a real chance of progressing into the round of 16. Bearing in mind that Spain are Slovakia’s final group opponents, a point in this match may likely see them qualify – just as their group return of four points did in 2016 as the best-ranked third-placed side.

Match stats

Sweden’s last five European Championship group games produced under 2.5 goals (W1, D2, L2).

Three of Slovakia’s four all-time European Championship group stage games finished with a 2-1 scoreline (W2, D1, L1).

Betting tips

Four of Sweden’s last six matches have produced under 2.5 goals, including the 0-0 draw with Spain, while three of Slovakia’s last six outings have also seen fewer than three goals scored.

Less than three goals have been produced in four of the last five games between these two countries and there could be more of the same on Friday. At 3/5, under 2.5 goals seems like a premium bet.
