1988 winners Netherlands face Ukraine in Amsterdam on Sunday, as the battle to grab early control of Group C intensifies in this year’s Euros.

European Championship 2020
Date: 13/05/2021
Kickoff: 20:00
Venue: Amsterdam Arena

After missing out on the last two major international tournaments, Netherlands make the triumphant return on to the big stages. They will be playing all their group stage games at the Amsterdam Arena, which gives them that sort of ‘home advantage’, and they’ll be looking to make the most of it.

The Oranje are in fine form presently, losing just once in their last ten games, and are fresh off a comfortable 3-0 victory over Georgia in their last prep game. Even without Virgil van Dijk and Donny van de Beek, the Dutch will fancy their chances in this tournament and should at least make it out of the group phases.

Ukraine are making their third straight appearance at the continental showpiece and will be looking to get off to a good start. Andriy Shevencko’s men are on a bit of tepid form at the moment; they are unbeaten in six, but the first four games of the run were consecutive 1-1 draws. They are back to winning ways having won their last two games and will be trying to make it three in a row with a victory over the Dutch.

Match stats

Ukraine have conceded two or more goals in their last six matches against countries in the top 20.

Betting tips

Memphis Depay is on the form of his life for his country right now. The star man has scored four of the Netherlands last six goals — all in succession — and he will be looking to continue his fine form, and provide himself the right momentum to lead his country throughout the tournament. At odds of 6/4, it’s worth picking him to score at anytime.
