The Netherlands and Austria began their campaigns with wins and now face off as both nations seek to take control of the group and finish top.

European Championship 2020
Date: 17/06/2021
Kickoff: 20:00
Venue: Johan Cruijff ArenA

After racing to a 2-0 lead in the second half, Netherlands let that lead slip after conceding two goals in quick succession just before the 80th minute mark but dug in deep to turn the one point into three, with right-back Denzel Dumfries scoring the winner in the 85th minute.

The Dutch attack threatened Ukraine all game and the midfield kept creating chances but Frank de Boer might want to tweak his shaky defence ahead of the game against an Austrian side that is bound to cause them problems.

Austria left it till the final 15 minutes but they eventually got the job done against North Macedonia. After getting pegged back not too longer after they scored, Austria were made to work very hard against North Macedonia before they were able to stroll to a 3-1 win. They needed late goals to secure the win & Netherlands showed in their last match that their defence could switch off at any time. So the Austrians will be hoping to still be in the game late on and take their chances when they eventually present themselves.

Austria’s last five games: WLLDW

Match stats

Netherlands have scored at least two goals in their last 8 games.

Austria are unbeaten in Amsterdam against Netherlands (W1 D2), however the last of those games was a 1-1 draw way back in April 1964.

Betting tips

Three of the Netherlands and Austria’s last six matches have ended with both teams scoring. Both the Netherlands and Austria looked threatening going forward and shaky at the back in their opening matches, so there should be a fair share of goals in this one. Back both teams to score at 4/5
