Real Madrid travel to Valladolid looking to extend their impressive winning run, and build upon their success against Sevilla last weekend.

Madrid came out on top thanks to an unlikely double from Casemiro as they adapted well to their missing star striker Karim Benzema, who they will be thankful they can call on once again after an injury. Injuries have begun to ease for Zidane’s side as they travel to the struggling side, but influential right back Dani Carvajal is suspended, and his attacking output from right back will be in particular missed.

Sergio Ramos is also out, but their impressive defensive record continued against Sevilla, as they created very little, and were fortunate to net through Luuk De Jong. The attacking threat that Valladolid carry is also minimal, so Zidane will be confident his side will be able to dominate, as they look to retain possession and create openings against a packed defence. Valladolid caused Real Madrid problems in the reverse, holding Los Blancos to a 1-1 draw thanks to Sergi Guardiola’s late equaliser, however the attacking problems that plagued Real at the start of the season are a thing of the past, and a comfortable victory should be expected.

Valladolid sit 15th in the league, but are without a win in La Liga since the start of November against Real Mallorca, and goals have been hard to come by. Sergi Guardiola is top scorer on four goals, whilst Everton reject Sandro Ramirez has struggled once again, only netting three times this season as Valladolid’s attacking woes are highlighted by 17 goals in 20 games.

They are been bailed out by their defence on countless occasions this season, however their xGa highlights just how fortunate they have been, with 23 goals conceded despite an xGa of 32.75. They will look to sit deep and utilise the counter attack against Zidane’s side, and Toni Villa’s ability on the break will be key to any hope they have. However, a long evening is expected for Valladolid, and a comfortable victory for Zidane’s side should be expected.

Team News:

Valladolid are without Stiven Plaza as their only absentee.

Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos are all expected to miss out, whilst Gareth Bale is a doubt after picking up an injury in Copa Del Rey action. Dani Carvajal is suspended.

Suggested Bets:

It is no surprise to see Real Madrid heavy favourites for the clash at 4/9, so value must be found elsewhere on this clash.

With domination expected for Real Madrid and the poor underlying statistics regarding Valladolid’s defence, it is the goal markets which take the most appeal. Karim Benzema is the obvious option but at 5/6, it is best to look elsewhere for a goalscoring option. Luka Jovic has struggled since moving to Real, whilst Bale’s injuries means the weight of the goals could fall elswhere. Winger Vinicius Junior will be given the task of breaking down the Valladolid defence from out wide, and priced at 2/1, he is the stand out option.

Given Valladolid’s struggles in front of goal, coupled with Real’s impressive form at the back, opposing goals for Valladolid also stands out. Priced at 1/1, both teams not to score is a good option, for what should be a comfortable Real victory.
