Lyon vs Rennes Match Preview and Betting Tips

Home » Lyon vs Rennes Match Preview and Betting Tips

Lyon and Rennes both secured big results in the midweek European games, but it was Rennes who come here on a better run of form.
Lyon battled from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against RB Leipzig in the Champions League last week, a result which was a huge one as it ensured that they qualified for the Champions League knockout phase.
Rennes secured a surprised 2-0 win over Lazio in the Europa League which eliminated the Italians from the competition, that result didn’t help Rennes achieve much but it did ensure that they remain with their 100 % record from their last four games.
Lyon have just two wins from their last five competitive games and that has ensured that they remain outside the top four, but the gap isn’t much so they would be keen to get a win here.
Rennes are currently fourth on the league table with just a point separating them from Lille who is 3rd on the league table.

Team News

Youssouf Kone and Leo Dubois are both injured for Lyon in this game so they won’t be playing.
Benjamin Bourigeaud, Raphinha, Jonas Martin, and Hamari Traore are injured for Rennes in this game so they won’t play any part in this match.

Head to Head

The last five matches between these sides have all ended in wins for the away side. Lyon has won two of those games while Rennes have won three.

Team Form

Betting Preview

This game would be one of Lyon’s toughest in recent weeks, but their fans would be keen to see their side get a win here as they hope for a return to the Champions League next season.
Lyon seems to do better when they play away from home. They beat Nimes 0-4 the last time they travelled, but they lost their last home league game 0-1 to Lille.
Rennes have been terrible travellers for the better part of this season, but they beat Metz 0-1 the last time they travelled, so they would be looking to get another win here.
Both teams have scored in three of Rennes last five away games, while both teams have scored in three of Lyon’s last five home league games as well.
Those games that both teams have scored for both of these teams have ended in over 2.5 goals and we think a similar outcome is in store here.
Rennes have scored at least twice on their last three visits to this ground as well so we could see them continue with a win here.

Suggested Bets

Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11
Both Teams to Score/Yes @ 4/5
