ITALY V SWITZERLAND MATCH PREVIEW AND BETTING TIPS

Home » News » ITALY V SWITZERLAND MATCH PREVIEW AND BETTING TIPS

Italy made a great start to their Euro 2020 campaign when thrashing Turkey last time out and it is difficult to oppose them in Wednesday’s late kickoff against Switzerland.

Euro Championship 2020
Date: 16/06/2021
Kick-off: 20:00pm
Venue: Stadio Olimpico

Italy were ruthless when they faced Turkey in the tournament’s curtain raiser last Friday. Merih Demiral turned home past his own goalkeeper before further strikes from Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne gave the Azurri a resounding 3-0 victory.

That win marked a ninth straight clean-sheet victory for the hosts, and currently on a run of 28 unbeaten games in all competitions, another win here would put them within a game of equaling their all-time record of 30 games unbeaten, spanning from as back as 1939!

Switzerland were denied late on when they faced Wales last time, with Kieffer Moore’s glancing header canceling out Breel Embolo in a one apiece draw. They have their work cut out here, as failure to get a victory here could see them needing to defeat Turkey in the final group fixtures.

They have only won once on Italian soil in all of their 24 head-to-head meetings (D5, L18), but they can take solace from the fact that the win came at this very ground back in 1982.

Team news

Italy

Alessandro Florenzi picked up a calf injury last time out, and is not likely to be available here. Lorenzo Pellegrini is also a doubt.

Match stats

All of Italy’s last five matchday two fixtures at the Euro Championship finals (W2, D3) have featured under 2.5 goals.

Switzerland are unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 Euro Championship games.

Betting tips

The last three meetings between these two sides have ended as a draw but the last of those was back in 2010. Thus, we like to think a win will suffice, and you expect Roberto Mancini’s side to wrap up group qualification with another win here.

Given their huge ambitions, expect them to put another three points on board. A win for the Azurri is priced at odds of 4/7.
