Chelsea are poised to heap more misery on under-fire Everton manager Marco Silva when they square off in what should be an enthralling affair at the Goodison Park

Premier League 2019/2020
Date: Saturday, 7th December
Kick-off: 12:30
Venue: Goodison Park

Following their loss versus Liverpool on Wednesday, Everton have now lost all of their last three league games and have replaced Southampton in the relegation zone. Marco Silva is clearly living on borrowed time as recent reports have clearly suggested he might not remain at the helm of the Merseyside club come the crack of new year, of course except there is an unprecedented turnaround in fortunes and a remarkable change of heart from the club’s hierarchy who have set sights on replacing him.

Their tough run of fixtures have not lent him a helping hand too, having played Leicester City and the Reds in their last two, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal lying in wait in their next successive three, and a League Cup tie against the highflying Foxes sandwiched somewhere in between.

Chelsea on their part, will be buoyed with their victory over Aston Villa in midweek when they entertain their misfiring opponents at the Goodison Park. The 2-1 win was their first after two consecutive topflight losses to Manchester City and West Ham respectively.

The Blues are unbeaten in eight of their last nine games away from home, winning seven of those matches, so i reckon they should prove too tough for the hosts here.

Team news

Silva could be forced into making a couple of changes to his faltering XI after another below-par showing in midweek. There are no recent injury worries to contend with.

Willian is a doubt to start here after coming off in the win over Aston Villa with a knock, but Tammy Abraham should be fit to keep his place for this one.

Antonio Rudiger and Ross Barkley are also both vying for starting berths for the Blues after putting aside injury worries.

Head to head

Chelsea have won 72 of the last 182 meetings in the past, with Everton managing 55 wins.

However, the Blues have not scored in any of the last three games they have played Everton.

Match stats

There have been under 2.5 goals between these two teams in all competitions.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Everton’s last 3 home games in the Premier League.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Chelsea’s last seven away games in the Premier League.

Team form

Everton are sinking without trace and have won just two league games since the start of September. Surely these are trying times at the Goodison Park. Everton’s last five matches in all competitions (DWLLL)

Chelsea remain six points ahead of fifth heading into match day16. They have also won three of their last five league games so there will be a feel of enthusiasm. Chelsea’s last five matches in all competitions (WLDLW)

Betting preview

Chelsea are yet to keep a clean sheet in any of their league trips this season and with Everton having scored in six of their last seven league games, I think the Tofees would threaten and find the net yet again even if Chelsea(21/20) eventually go on to topple them. At 8/13, that is a good value to jump on.

And then, Richarlison has been a source of goals for Everton in spite of his side’s woes and at odds of 9/4 to find the net anytime here looks enticing.
