Two sides riding high in the top half of the Premier League standings face off at the Selhurst Park in a game poised to produce fireworks.

Date : Sunday, 3rd September 2019
Kick-off : 15:00 PM BST
TV channel : Sky Sports

Roy Hodgson simply cannot ask for more from his charges at the moment. Sitting pretty sixth on the Premier League standings and with a realistic chance of moving a place further up, the Eagles go in search of a third home win in the midst of a decent run of results here.

The only big blip they had suffered since September looks to be the 2-0 loss to Manchester City here on match week nine, and after coming from two goals down to hold Arsenal last time out, the South London-based outfit will look to this one with much optimism.

Leicester City come Into this one unbeaten in six of their last seven matches in all competitions, and are arguably the most in-form team in the division at the moment. To put that into context, the Foxes have actually won nine of their last eleven, with their only losses during that streak coming against Manchester City and Liverpool.

They will be hoping to get an important three points yet as the race for European spots gets even more fiercer.

Crystal Palace will line up in their favoured 4-5-1 formation with Jordan Ayew deployed upfront, and the quintet of Jeffrey Schlupp, Wilfried Zaha, Milivojevic, Kouyate and McArthur supporting.

Leicester in their 4-14-1 block will bank on their attacking trio the likes of Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez, with Jamie Vardy further up.

Team news:

Crystal Palace

Aside Connor Wickham and Mamadou Sakho who remain long term absentees, Hodgson will have a full squad complement here and is not expected to make changes to the starting XI at the Emirates Stadium last time out.

Leicester City

Rodgers made nine changes to the team that won 9-0 at Southampton when his side made the trip to Burton in midweek, but is expected to reinstate his first team for this one.

Head to head

This will be the 72nd meeting between these clubs since their first meeting in the English Old Division in 1922.

Crystal Palace have done the double over their opponents in each of the past two seasons and remain unbeaten in their last five clashes.

Team form

Crystal Palace are having a banner campaign, from all indications and there is little to suggest they will be pushovers here. They have won two of their last four games and are fast making the Selhurst Park a fortress, with two wins and a draw in the last four matches played there.

Betting preview:

There are three markets which, particularly look enticing for this encounter. First, the fact Palace are a strong defensive unit that has shipped just three goals in five home games this season suggests a cagey affair is on the cards in South London. That said, five of their last six clashes had produced over 2.5 goals, but should you like to make good value, then punters can go for a low scoring game at 5/6.

Jamie Vardy has been firing on all cylinders for much of this season, and have nine goals in ten league outings so far. Expect the red-hot goal poacher to add a few more to his haul here.

And then, with two teams on the best of form squaring up at the moment, there is also a possibility it could end with no victor, and of course no vanquished. At a price of 12/5, this looks mouthwatering but could play out nonetheless.

Suggested bets

Under 2.5 match goals @5/6

Jamie Vardy to score anytime @13/10

Draw @12/5
