Belgium look to go one better than their third-place finish at the 2018 World Cup, but first will have to find a way past defending champions, Portugal.

European Championship 2020
Date: 27/06/2021
Kickoff: 20:00
Venue: La
Cartuja

Belgium were one of only three sides to win all three of their group games. The Red Devils looked almost unbeatable at times and the general consensus is that FIFA’s best ranked team will take some stopping in this tournament.

However, Belgium’s golden generation has often flattered to deceive but if they manage to overcome the current holders, people will wake up and take them more seriously.

Portugal make their eighth successive knockout phase of this competition, having scrapped through via the third place after that entertaining 2-2 draw with France.

They will be hoping that luck strikes a second time as they try to defend their crown but unlike 2016, their path to the final isn’t easy at all and they’ll have to get past the No. 1 ranked nation and the bookmakers favorite to win it.

Thankfully, history have been kind for them as one have to go way back to 1989 to the last time Belgium recorded a H2H, with Portugal going unbeaten in their five meetings since then, winning thrice.

Betting tips

Cristiano Ronaldo is in blistering goal scoring form right now. The Portuguese has scored in every game so far and is the tournament’s leading goal scorer with five.

He’s now just one goal away from being the outright record holder for most goals in international football after tying Iran’s Ali Daei record of 109.

It’s almost a given that he breaks the record against Belgium. He is 6/4 to score anytime here.
